Thank you for calling local 1051's information tape; this is Tuesday March 14, 2006, 2006, President Teoli speaking.
I want to give an update as to where the local stands:
First all the outstanding contracts are completed. The towns AYER, Westford, Littleton and Hudson have all been settled and ratified.
The AT&T call center in Fairhaven will be closing on April 21st, all members there have been notified of their options and have met with unemployment. If there are outstanding questions, please feel free to call the local office or see a DVP. I want to thank Congressman Barney Frank for all his help and support during this period, he is a true friend of CWA. I also want to thank Senatorsí Kennedy and Kerry for their letter of Support. I have also applied for Trade Adjustment Assistance, this is assistance when your job is lost to overseas. I am waiting for a decision on this.
The fate of the Local is as follows; The Officers will remain until there is a new election sometime is May. At that point anyone is eligible to run, provided they meet the criteria, which will announced at a later date. We will stay on as long as it takes to train the new Officers. We are also planning on moving the Local to a new Location, closer to the remaining members. I will keep everyone updated along the way, if anyone has any questions, please feel free to call.
Thank you for calling Local 1051ís information tape, have a great day,.
